
Q: How is your business planning to evolve in its own “next generation”?Ī: At a pivotal point for ecoLong, where we have two priorities. We hope in the next few years to realize that goal by rolling out our technology in underserved and underrepresented communities.

We created the software platform with the goal of increasing the accessibility of clean energy for communities that may not otherwise be able to (access it). Q: What are some of the things you look forward to accomplishing as a leader?Ī: Our primary focus has been on building a great team both internally within ecoLong, and externally to expand partnerships with real estate developers and property managers to incorporate clean energy and energy-efficient solutions into buildings in the Capital Region. Persistence in following your dreams, patience in understanding that things don't happen immediately and perseverance in knowing nothing worth achieving in life comes easily. It was these two emerging technologies that helped lay the foundation for my company. And then when I was in graduate school, I learned about a new cryptocurrency called Bitcoin that was powered by block-chain technology. One of my first internships in college was at General Electric Renewables, which introduced me to the energy and renewables industry. Q: What inspired you to create your company?Ī: There wasn't a defining moment, however, there were many moments in my journey that put me on the path to entrepreneurship. The goal of the platform is to maximize the economic benefit of renewable clean energy to the user and provide benefits back to the grid. The same home could also trade energy resources with the grid to provide grid ancillary services, transforming homes into grid-interactive efficient buildings. For example, a home with a solar PV rooftop may be producing more energy than they can consume, and would be able to use our platform to sell that excess energy to their neighbor. Our software platform enables community participants to trade energy with each other, all while managing the impact of distributed energy resources on the grid. Q: How would you describe your software platform to someone whois not as in tune to the industry you're in?Ī: Our mission at ecoLong is to build interconnected and resilient communities, which includes the development of our block-chain based energy marketplace that provides communities with equitable access to clean energy.

To continue to succeed and endure change, we are required to be adaptable, open-minded and resilient. But we are also the generation that has and will see the greatest amount of change, such as the rapid pace of evolving technology and innovation. To you, what does this next generation of female leaders look like?Ī: We are an incredibly lucky generation where we have role models who have set an example that women can have it all. Q: You're being recognized as a "next generation" woman to watch here in the Capital Region. This conversation has been edited for clarity and space. Whether the RPI graduate is leading her team at work or hiking Sleeping Beauty –- her favorite mountain in the Adirondacks – she puts the “Three Ps” into practice to achieve her version of happiness and success.
